Construction is underway on the 480-home Horizon Lake development in Leander, according to a Dec. 3 release from Taylor Morrison.

Taylor Morrison and Pulte homebuilders will build the 200-acre development near US 183 and RM 2243 along Horizon Park Boulevard. There will be 78 acres of open space with a 24-acre lake reservoir, a fishing pier, a pavilion, a children’s playscape and walking trails.

Construction on the 200-acre development began in November with the first homes anticipated to be ready in late 2022, according to Taylor Morrison. Home prices will begin in the mid-$300,000s.

“Horizon Lake will be a great starter home community for young professionals,” said April Whitaker, the president of Taylor Morrison’s Austin division, in a release. “Its location, just minutes from Leander Station and the MetroRail Red Line, gives it great access to downtown Austin employment centers.”

Leander City Council approved zoning and a development agreement for the project in April 2020. Commercial development is planned within Horizon Lake on RM 2243.
