Williamson County officials are reporting icy road conditions throughout the county and encouraging residents to stay home Jan. 31.

The winter storm warning for Williamson County has been extended to Feb. 2, and the County Commissioners Court meeting has been canceled. The county does not currently have any roads closed, according to Williamson County Communications Director Connie Odom, but several cities have closed elevated roadways until they can be sanded and then reopened. Icy conditions have been reported on SH 45, SH 130, SH 195 and IH 35.

Meanwhile, road crews have closed 183A on-ramps due to accidents in Leander and Cedar Park, according to the city of Leander. Public Works staff have sanded the Ronald Reagan bridge three times since Monday evening and have also sanded bridges on Bagdad Road. Due to the conditions, Al Clawson Disposal will not be running routes to collect trash Jan. 31. All city of Leander facilities remain closed.

In Cedar Park, city facilities have also been closed, and trash and recycling pickup has been delayed until Feb. 1, while road crews are treating bridges and overpasses in the area.

No road closures have been reported in Georgetown, where solid waste collections for Jan. 31 have been moved to Feb. 1. Residents can also check road conditions, closures and accidents at www.drivetexas.org.
