Located on the site of the former Ramos Mexican restaurant, Chestnut Grove Food Truck Court features on-site food trucks selling a variety of food and drinks, including barbecue at Smoked Love and award-winning pies at Cutie Pies.

The backstory

Bill Gossett and his wife, Lisa, opened the food truck court this January to help attract people to the downtown area. The spot offers covered seating and misting fans as well as night lighting. The location is also dog-friendly.

“Being just half a block off of Main Street is a nice area for people just to sit and relax,” Gossett said.

Complete with a stage area, Chestnut Grove regularly hosts musical talent at the venue. Chestnut Grove is also available as an event venue.

Diving in deeper

Many of the food trucks are run by Bastrop residents. Gossett said a spot at Chestnut Grove Food Truck Court is a good place for new businesses to grow.

“It's really about having local people doing local trucks,” Gossett said. “We really look forward to when a food truck moves on and gets a brick and mortar—you know that's a great success for them.”
