Construction will begin soon on a 1,000-foot extension connecting Jackson Street to the new Financial Way cul-de-sac.

The project will begin in November and is expected to be completed within two months. Bastrop City Council voted to approve the Financial Way Improvements construction contract on Oct. 10 at a regular City Council meeting.

About the project

Water, wastewater and storm sewer infrastructure will be extended through Financial Way Road.

The contract with 304 Construction, LLC is for the cost of nearly $1.05 million. Funding for the project will come from the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation.

The big picture

According to City Manager Sylvia Carrillo, the project has been hindered by changing Bastrop EDC directors and the early stage of the property's development. She said the Pine Forest Unit 6 development and the Line 204 Studio projects in the area have further complicated matters.

“Financial Way was planned long before we began to have all of the discussion about an area development plan,” Carrillo said at the Oct. 10 City Council meeting.

The entire loop and the rest of the southern portion of the park is in the design phase.
