What you need to know
BISD officials unanimously approved the selection of Interim Superintendent Kristi Lee as the finalist in its search for a new superintendent Nov. 18.
In their own words
"I sincerely appreciate the trust you've placed in me with this decision," Lee said. "It means the world to me. I value each one of you ... We have a lot of work to do, but we're going to do it, and we're going to do it well."
How we got here
Lee was appointed to serve as the district's interim superintendent July 15—about one month after longtime Superintendent Barry Edwards announced his intention to retire from his position after 17 years.
Career History
A graduate of Sam Houston State University, Lee has served BISD in several roles for over nine years.
What's next?
The board will meet again to vote on the hiring of Lee in December, following a mandatory 21-day waiting period required by the Texas Education Code.
