The Methodist Healthcare Ministries opened a thrift store in Cedar Creek to fund career support resources in Bastrop and Cedar Creek in April.

Helping Hands Community Thrift Store will sell donated goods and use the proceeds to provide job support services. The three programs it will fund are classes teaching English for work situations, tools and clothes needed for employment, and support for other needs, such as utility assistance when someone loses a job.
The store fills a need for thrift shopping in the area, offering affordable prices on items and reaching people who fall through the cracks of other career services resources, said Dalila Mancha, Methodist Healthcare Ministries Wesley nurse for the Bastrop area.
