Smithville residents Brittany and Kyle Stinson have created a “come-as-you-are hub for friends, families and neighbors” after opening The Birdsong Bar and Patio—a project the husband and wife have spent the last several months working on.

The Birdsong Bar and Patio fills the former home of a longtime local bar known as Charlie’s.

“We’re so grateful to be starting this journey at the very beginning of a new year, and even more thankful to be doing it here in Smithville and Bastrop County,” the Stinsons said in a statement. “After months of hard work, long days and plenty of problem-solving, opening our doors as the calendar turns feels pretty symbolic—and honestly, really special.”

The duo thanked everyone who stopped by, supported them and made those first moments meaningful.


“We hope you’ve enjoyed what you’ve seen so far, and we can’t wait to keep welcoming the now-familiar faces while meeting plenty of new ones in the year ahead,” the Stinsons said.

The Birdsong Bar and Patio’s menu will feature a variety of beer, seltzer, cider, wine, liquor and cocktails, including:

The outlook

The Stinsons plan to continue improving The Birdsong Bar and Patio—which features pool tables, arcade games, a book and game nook, and patio games—in the coming months.


“As we’re still in our training phase, we truly appreciate your patience and feedback,” the Stinsons said. “If a drink isn’t quite right, or if there’s something you’d love to see us stock, please let us know. Our goal is consistency in every pour and building a bar that really suits our regulars and this community.”
