Nonprofit organization Allen Sports Association is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Executive Director Jennifer Hasko said.
Allen Sports Association offers year-round recreational sports programs for children, according to its website. There are also opportunities for adults to volunteer as coaches, Hasko said.
“Our goal is to teach the kids the basic skills and also for them to learn life lessons about teamwork, leadership, accountability, graceful winning and losing gracefully, but also to instilling the love of the game in the kids so that they carry that with them through middle school and high school and and beyond,” Hasko said.
All nine sports programs have registration fees, but the organization only charges the cost for the program to run, she said. Allen Sports Association offers a financial aid program for residents of Allen, Lucas and Fairview.
