Allen ISD students continued to outperform students across the state and region on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, as well as STAAR end-of-course exams in the 2025-26 school year, according to a district presentation.
In a nutshell
The Texas Education Agency released performance results for the exams earlier this summer and Allen ISD officials reviewed the results during an Aug. 24 board of trustees meeting. STAAR performance is one component used by the TEA in assigning annual accountability ratings to Texas school districts.
Allen ISD received an A rating from the TEA for the 2025-26 school year based on student performance and other factors.
Jennifer Wilhelm, assistant superintendent of Learner Services, said Allen ISD remains a “high-achievement district” that continues to “outpace” the region and state in “all content areas and grade levels.” The results showed an increase in the percentage of students who met or mastered grade-level expectations, according to a staff presentation.
“These results evidence increases in performance at the meets and masters performance levels resulting in higher levels of student achievement,” Wilhelm said.

How it works
Wilhelm reviewed results for STAAR tests administered in grades 3-8 and STAAR End-of-Course tests administered in specific high school subjects:
- Algebra 1
- Biology
- English 1
- English 2
- U.S. History
STAAR performance is measured across four different levels, according to the staff presentation.
- Did not meet grade level
- Approaches grade level
- Meets grade level
- Masters grade level
Students who did not meet grade-level standards on a STAAR exam have not passed the test, according to TEA’s website.
By the numbers
The staff presentation included a summary of how all Allen ISD students compared to Region 10 and the state. At least 88% of Allen ISD students approached grade-level or higher compared to 74% of all Texas students, according to the presentation.
Wilhelm said the results reflect a “mostly steady trend” in overall academic achievement compared to the previous year’s results. She thanked teachers and campus leaders for their “dedicated efforts” to support student learning.
“By working together as a collective team, we will continue to focus this school year on areas for continued growth while celebrating our many successes along the way,” Wilhelm said. “In Allen ISD, we are committed to the academic success of all students.”
