Allen ISD officials approved purchases for new instructional materials and network infrastructure upgrades during a recent meeting.

Allen ISD’s board of trustees approved more than $888,802 for the purchase of instructional materials during an April 27 meeting. Materials are being purchased for algebra and geometry classes in sixth grade through eighth grade, according to a district document.
Materials were selected and recommended by a selection committee made up of campus and district staff, said Jennifer Wilhelm, assistant superintendent of Learner Services.
“Opportunities were provided for teachers, parents and community members to review and provide feedback to the committee prior to making a final recommendation for selection,” she said.
The selected material has been approved by the State Board of Education and will be implemented beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Wilhelm said. The materials will “ensure that teachers have state-adopted, high-quality instructional materials” that will support student learning, she said.
Also on the agenda
Board members also approved purchases related to upgrading the district’s network infrastructure at specific schools. Board members approved up to $326,601 for the purchase of uninterruptible power supply units to be installed at the following facilities:
- Allen High School
- Ag Barn facility
- Administration annex at the Professional Learning and Auxiliary Services building
- Anderson Early Childhood School
- Cheatham Elementary School
- Curtis Middle School
UPS units provide backup power to electronic devices and systems during power outages, according to a district document. This project will be funded by a bond proposition passed by voters in 2024.
Board members also approved up to $1,263,588 for making network upgrades at the following schools:
- Allen High School
- Anderson Early Childhood School
- Curtis Middle School
- Dillard Special Achievement Center
- Marion Elementary School
This project will be funded by the 2024 bond program and the Federal Communications Commission’s E-Rate program, according to a district document.
One more thing
Allen ISD is renewing its agreement with Sewell Automotive Companies to return as an official sponsor at Eagle Stadium. The company has been an advertiser at the stadium since 2019. The new agreement will run from 2026 to 2029, and Sewell will pay $25,000 annually for the sponsorship, according to a district document.
Money will be paid into the school district’s general fund, Chief Communications Officer David Hicks said.
