1. Blackburn Communities, Wolverine Interests to bring 352-unit multifamily project to Allen
Mississippi-based developer Blackburn Communities and Plano-based developer Wolverine Interests are developing a 352-unit multifamily project in Allen, said Brent Weltner, partner at Blackburn Communities.
The community, which is expected to break ground this fall, will offer a variety of floor plans, including one-, two-and three-bedroom units, Weltner said. Amenities will include a pool, a gym, a courtyard with outdoor activities, a coworking space and more.
The project's location will allow future residents easy access to US 75 and SH 121, making it "a nice place to live", Wolverine Interests President Jim Leslie said.
“We just think it's a really cool area and prime for growth,” Weltner said.
2. JaRyCo Development celebrates 25 years in AllenJaRyCo Development celebrated 25 years of offering real estate development services in Allen July 1, President Bruce Heller said.
The business’s first project was an office building at 1333 McDermott Drive, Heller said. Since then, JaRyCo Development has worked on Allen projects like the Twin Creeks Medical Center, Twin Creeks Rehab and The Farm, as well as projects across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, per its website.
“To stay in business for 25 years is a great achievement for any business, but to do it in one of the most competitive real estate markets in the country tells us we must have done a few things right,” Heller said in an email. “It feels great to think back about all of the great people we have been able to meet and work with and all of the opportunities we have been so fortunate to experience.”
3. Food hall The Hub closes at The Farm in AllenThe Hub opened in 2022 within mixed-use development The Farm near SH 121.
“The total spend in the submarket is not adequate to support the current concept, causing the challenges we faced,” Zeitlin said.
The restaurant offered a variety of food and beverage options, including tacos, chicken fingers, burgers, fries, margaritas, beer and more, per its website. The Hub also hosted events.
Another group has plans for the location; however, there is no more information available at this time, Zeitlin said.
“Thank you to the over half a million people who came to share time with us,” Zeitlin said.
