Heather Demere

San Antonio Metro Publisher

Heather was born and raised in El Paso until leaving for college at Texas A&M University in College Station. Upon graduation, she moved to San Marcos, drawn by the spring-fed San Marcos river and the proximity to Austin, New Braunfels and San Antonio.

Heather graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in Spanish. She enjoys all outdoor activities, especially kayaking, hiking, camping and gardening. She also enjoys live music and dancing.

Heather has been with Community Impact for over six years since she first helped launch the New Braunfels edition. She was awarded a company-wide annual award in 2020 for GM of the year and took over management of the San Marcos/Buda/Kyle edition soon after.

She completed Leadership San Marcos in the class of 2024, which led to unveiling a Love Lock SMTX sculpture at Zelicks Icehouse in February 2024.

She also enjoys volunteering for area nonprofits to put on fun annual events, such as The Heritage Association of San Marcos Historic Tour of Homes and the Hispanic Business Alliance Dia De Los Muertos Festival in New Braunfels.

What she loves the most about her job …

Heather loves the regular positive reader feedback and recognition when she meets someone out in the community and they find out where she works. It always puts a smile on her face! Also, she loves seeing her team members win company awards and get promoted within the company.

The best piece of adice Heather would give a young professional …

I find that if you give it your best, focus on the positive, surround yourself with an amazing team, celebrate successes and continually look for better ways to do things, the sky is the limit.
