Founder Jim West said the event will be a food truck derby and will take place on Jan. 28 from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the pet-friendly dining and entertainment center, located at 1212 14
th Street. The event includes 10 food trucks, live entertainment and raffle prizes.
Although the food truck park is hosting its first event later this month, it is expected to officially open sometime this spring, West said.
At the event, attendees will vote on their favorite food truck, and the winner will have preferential treatment in terms of location and parking. The winning truck will also receive a plaque and be able to choose what days or weeks they want to park at Hub Streat and receive a plaque, West said. The plaque will hang inside Hub Streat’s pavilion, West said.
The 10 food trucks competing in the derby are:
- Texas Burrito Company
- Gandolfo’s New York Deli
- The Butchers Son
- Cajun Tailgators
- Easy Slider
- The Guava Tree
- Ssahm BBQ
- Yummy Spiedies Truck
- Ruthie's Rolling Cafe
The Lone Star Bottle Band and Todd Stewart of the Randy Rogers Band will perform live music at the event.
About Hub Streat
Hub Streat will have a variety of rotating food trucks, a full-service restaurant, live entertainment, a pavilion with pool tables and games and a beer garden with picnic tables, cabanas and fire pits.
West said the full-service restaurant has four concepts or themes: Atlas Tacos, Salt and Season Rotisserie, Joe Spuds and Pizza Girl on Wheels. These concepts will serve tacos, sandwiches, pizza and burgers.
“Our concept has evolved over time with [the mantra to think big] because we all recognize that the mobile business is here to stay. It’s not a trend or a fad,” West said in a previous interview with
Community Impact Newspaper. “Our mission is to be one of the best in the industry.”
