The Collin County Animal Shelter, 4750 Community Ave., McKinney,  is offering free pet adoptions from noon-5 p.m. Saturday in an effort to clear the shelter.

All adoptions are paid for by McKinney-based FarmHouse Fresh, a natural, organic skincare company. Spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and heartworm testing fees are also being paid for by FarmHouse Fresh.

“Our goal is that every animal gets a home - to feel the love of a forever family - in this new year,” said Shannon McLinden, CEO and Founder of FarmHouse Fresh, in a press release. “There are so many wonderful animals of every size, age and breed in shelters waiting for homes. Animals have the ability to transform a family with unconditional love and joy, and there is nothing quite like the gratitude of a rescued animal.”

To make the afternoon even more exciting for new pet-owners, Tiff’s Treats will provide complimentary cookies, Davis & Rose will provide live music, and the county's new arson detection dog and her trainer will be giving demonstrations of her skills. Mr. Pit Frisco, a dog behaviorist specialist who studied with Cesar Millan, will be present to answer questions and provide training tips. And, the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) will also be onsite providing a shot clinic for families who want to bring their current animals for low cost vaccinations, microchips and heartworm testing or preventative measures.

The first five families to adopt a new animal Saturday will receive a complimentary luxury dog bed and three adopters will receive free in-home dog training sessions with Mr. Pitt Frisco.
