The McKinney Fire Department responded to a crash this morning around 6 a.m. involving a dump-truck driver who lost control and collided with the storefront of North Texas Surveying LLC, located at 1010 W. University Drive.
The truck also hit a fire hydrant and an electric pole, which left most of the surrounding businesses without power for most of the morning, however power has been restored to all the businesses except for the one involved in the accident.
The driver suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital, and according to the MFD, the reason for the crash is still unknown.
The business was closed at the time of the crash and no one was inside, so there were no other persons injured besides the driver.
Michael Arthur, owner of North Texas Surveying LLC, said that the building is unusable in its current condition, and it is still undetermined whether or not the business will rebuild at the current location or permanently move into a new building.
According to Arthur, the surveying crew was unphased and returned to work as normal this morning, and he said the business will begin operating from a temporary location starting tomorrow, Nov. 28.
