A special election will be held Feb. 18 to fill the seat. The Place 1 seat is an unexpired term that is up for election again in May 2018. Warach has lived in Frisco for more than three years with his family. He said he decided to run for council in order to be more active in the community. “I just love the town,” he said. “It’s a good place to raise my family, and I just want to be more involved in it.” Warach is an engineer, which he said would help prepare him for serving on council. “I think my engineering background gives me the analytical skills that I’ll be able to use when I’m on City Council,” he said. “Solve problems—that’s basically what I do at my current occupation, and it prepares me well for this position.” With the rate at which Frisco is growing, Warach said he wants to make sure the city keeps up with the services residents need. “With growth comes its own problems like infrastructure, basic services and providing a good quality of life for residents,” he said. “We want to make sure we continue that. We don’t want to fall behind.” Warach said he also wants to highlight Frisco’s best qualities, such as its housing and businesses, to attract people to visit or move to the city.
