Two new schools opening for the 2017-18 school year will bring changes to attendance boundaries at several Pflugerville ISD schools.

Seven public forums are planned to address the proposed changes, which were outlined at a Nov. 3 PfISD board of trustees workshop. Administrators will share information about the proposal and listen to feedback, which will be shared with the board prior to its January decision.

The opening of PfISD’s 4th high school and 21st elementary school means the district must balance enrollment at several campuses to create enrollment for the new schools. See maps of the proposed changes linked below.

According to district officials, the opening of the new high school will impact some current freshman students at Hendrickson High School, as well as current eighth graders at Cele and Dessau middle schools who are zoned to attend Hendrickson. Current sophomores and juniors will not be impacted by the changes, as the unnamed High School No. 4 will open with only a freshman and sophomore class.

The opening of the elementary school could impact students at Riojas, Rowe Lane and Dearing elementary schools. Additionally, to relieve enrollment at Kelly Lane Middle School, there are proposed changes to the attendance zones for Park Crest and Pflugerville middle schools. To relieve enrollment at Highland Park Elementary, there are also proposed changes to the boundaries for Brookhollow Elementary School.

The district will hold public forums from 6-7 p.m. on these dates:

• Nov. 30 at Hendrickson High School Performing Arts Center

• Dec. 5 at Riojas Elementary School

• Dec. 7 at Kelly Lane Middle School

• Dec. 8 at Rowe Lane Elementary School

• Jan. 4 at Park Crest Middle School

• Jan. 5 at Highland Park Elementary School

• Jan. 10 at PfISD Administration Building (6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the board room)

Letters will be mailed to parents of students expected to be affected by the change.
