Hutto High School's stadium will be known as Hutto Memorial Stadium after the board unanimously approved a resolution to rename the facility.

Hutto ISD Public Information Officer Todd Robison said the name fits the stadium because it hosts a number of memorials to veterans, including an incoming memorial that will be an empty seat for soldiers who are prisoners of war or missing in action. Robison said the district commemorates veterans day, hosts a freedom game, and the Kyle G. West Memorial Fieldhouse commemorates a veteran as well.

“Our district is one of the most patriotic in Central Texas," Robison said. “We're truly a memorial stadium."

Robison said there are about 55 stadiums in Texas named Memorial Stadium, but many are "in name only." Robison said previously Hutto's stadium did not feature a formal name, but was often referred to as Hippo Stadium.

We feel it would be very representative of our stadium to be Hutto Memorial Stadium,” he said.
