Whether it’s for a wedding, construction work or the playground, customers of Jireh Boots have found Western boots for all ages, for various needs and different tastes.The boots all have one thing in common: They are handmade in Mexico, of high quality and are affordable, said Tony Hernandez, co-owner of Jireh Boots with his wife, Elvia.

The Hernandezes have lived in Pflugerville for nine years and opened the store, at 200 E. Pecan, Ste. 4, Pflugerville, in March. They want to support the community and be part of Pflugerville, the owners said.

That is something customers such as Debra Dozier said they appreciate.

“It is really great that we now have a local boot store,” she said. “It has that small-town hospitality. When you go in there you are treated like royalty.”

Dozier said she likes that it is a small store with a personal touch and great customer service.

Elvia said she has loved boots since childhood. When she asked her husband for a pair of new boots a few years ago, they found that boots were too expensive. So the idea of offering high-quality boots at affordable prices seemed like a natural, Tony said. After they made the right contacts, they started selling boots early this year and opened the store, which is mainly operated by Elvia.

The store offers brands including Gold Rush, Denver, Big Bull and Innovation Boots. Customers can find simple and traditional boots as well as dress boots in various colors and styles, boots with inserts or work boots that are water-, oil- and heat-resistant or have a steel toe.

The handmade boots are made out of high-quality leather, mainly cowhide.

When Marissa Martinez and her daughter first walked into the store, they found what they were looking for.

“My daughter bought me some boots and some boots for her kids,” Martinez said. “We will go back and buy more because they are really nice boots. They are comfortable, their designs are really pretty and they are not as expensive as in the big stores. And the boots have a very good
quality.”
