Led by Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Larry Madsen, the county officially broke ground on improvements to CR 110 South Thursday afternoon at the Crosswalk Church in Round Rock.

Phase one of the project, which is from Hwy. 79 to Limmer Loop and is approximately 2.2 miles in length, will upgrade the existing two-lane roadway to a three-lane roadway, which is half of an ultimate six-lane facility.

The second phase will connect Limmer Loop and CR 107. Madsen said the project will cost about $27 million in total and that TxDOT will add a light at CR 110 and Hwy. 79 by the end of the project.

Madsen also credited former Precinct 4 commissioner Ron Morrison for his work on the road. Morrison died Sept. 7.

The project was designed by Dannenbaum Engineers and the contractor is Chasco Constructors and construction is anticipated to take approximately in 18 months, wrapping up in summer 2018.
