Downtown Guadalupe Street will reduce from two to one lane beginning August 1. The partial road closure will last through the end of the day August 3.

The lane reduction will take place from Third to Fourth streets to allow for "utility improvements," according to a city of Austin news release. Pedestrians will be rerouted and are asked by the city to follow detour signs for safety purposes.

Guadalupe Street has been reduced most of the past two weeks from four lanes to two for construction purposes, according to the city. This specific construction project is part of broader improvements along the Third Street corridor.

Project details include a "full-depth street reconstruction, widened sidewalks, street trees, typical Great Streets furnishings and installation of the Lance Armstrong Bikeway with concrete barrier curbs separating bicycle and vehicle traffic," according to a city statement.
