Michael McLeod has won the Shenandoah City Council position 5 seat, according to unofficial results.



McLeod received 197 votes, leading opponent Josh Wendell's 37 votes, with all precincts reporting, results show. All results are unofficial until canvassed.



"I have been a resident of Shenandoah and an active member of the community for the past 6 years," McLeod said. "Just a huge, huge thank you for everyone that participated in the process."



McLeod said he plans to be a good steward of taxpayer money, and to continue engaging Shenandoah residents in the decision making process.



"I want to make sure we continue to invest wisely in the city," McLeod said. "We have a lot of growth happening around us, we need to plan for that. We need to continue to be proactive in engaging the residents to make sure that they are aware of and engaged in the decisions that the city is making.

Michael McLeod is leading the Shenandoah City Council position 5 race over opponent Josh Wendell, according to early voting results.



McLeod received 114 votes, and is leading Wendell who received 27 votes, results show. All results are unofficial until canvassed.



McLeod is president of the Shenandoah Sharks Swim Team board of directors, and Wendell has a background in home building, oil and gas.



The winner will replace outgoing commissioner Jason Frazer, who has held the seat since 2008.



The race was the city's only contested race. The winner will join John Houston, who was recently sworn in to fill the Position 2 seat, along with incoming Mayor Garry Watts and Position 5 incumbent Gary Henson who ran in uncontested races.
