North Cypress Medical Center plans to open a new 24-hour emergency room in the master-planned community of Towne Lake by early next year to cater to the growing population in Cypress.

The new center will include a 10,000-square-foot full-service emergency room and 20,000-square feet of medical office space. The emergency room will feature a full-service lab with 10 treatment rooms, CT scanning, an open MRI, ultrasound and fluoroscopy. Outpatient testing and radiology services will also be available.

“It is an emergency room, but it really addresses a number of different needs a community might have,” said Dr. Mounang Desai, medical director of North Cypress Medical Center emergency services.

The site, which is about six miles from the hospital’s main campus on Hwy. 290, sits on 2 acres in Towne Lake at the southwest corner of Lakecrest View Drive and Barker Cypress Road.
