On June 1, the Pflugerville ISD board of trustees selected a former Copperas Cove and Leander ISD educator to step in as the district's new deputy superintendent.

The board voted 5-0—trustees Carol Fletcher and Jimmy Don Havins were not at the meeting—to appoint Troy Galow as deputy superintendent. Galow was most recently deputy superintendent of Copperas Cove ISD.

"I am honored to join such a remarkable educational community. Pflugerville is a tremendously exciting school district with an established reputation of high achievement," Galow said in a statement. "I look forward to working with the staff, students and community to build on the momentum that PISD has created as a leader in public education."

Prior to Copperas Cove ISD, Galow held a number of positions with Leander ISD from 1996 to 2010.

He is expected to start with PISD on June 18.
