This season, Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball invites the community to do that with its theme: Go Tell It. Inspired by the hymn “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” the theme challenges everyone to share the joy, hope and message of Jesus Christ’s birth beyond the church walls
A bold theme for a meaningful season
Go Tell It’s idea is simple but powerful: Christmas isn’t just about singing carols or attending a service—it’s about sharing the greatest news.
“If you’ve got the best news in the world and keep it to yourself, that’s pretty irresponsible and selfish,” Senior Pastor Tim Niekerk said. “It’s about sharing peace, joy, comfort and hope with others. Christmas is the perfect time to step out and let that light shine.”
The theme challenges the congregation to see the story of Jesus’ birth as living and present, not just historical.
“Jesus Christ is born. Not was born, is born,” Pastor Tim said. “That message is for you in 2025—not just for the shepherds or the angels.”

Finding and sharing peace in a chaotic world
Christmas can feel like a fleeting pause in life’s chaos. Pastor Tim reminds the congregation that real peace comes from Jesus—and it doesn’t end when the service ends.
The birth of Christ brings a steady calm amid uncertainty, health struggles and family pressures. This peace isn’t just for reflection; it’s meant to flow outward, touching neighbors, friends and the community.
“Jesus came to bring hope into a messy, broken world,” he said. “When we carry that peace, we’re not just finding calm for ourselves—we’re showing others that it is possible, even in the chaos.”
Spreading the message for generations
At Salem Lutheran, Go Tell It extends beyond Christmas. The church encourages members to share the story of Jesus’ birth with future generations.
“Part of our church’s responsibility is to ensure the next generation knows who God is and what He has done,” Pastor Tim said. “Psalm 78:4 reminds us to tell the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord to future generations. That’s why it’s important to share this message, not just once a year, but year after year.”
The Salem NEXT initiative focuses on young families and children, equipping them to carry the story of Jesus forward through interactive programs and family-centered activities.
“It’s not enough to experience this message for ourselves,” he said. “We want it to live in our homes, neighborhoods and the hearts of future generations.”
An invitation to all
Salem Lutheran welcomes everyone, whether you’re new to faith or looking for a spiritual home.
“If you don’t have a place to go, hopefully you’ll hear a message of hope here,” Pastor Tim said. “Our doors are open for you.”
