5.5 tons of food and 1,000 Thanksgiving meals: How Milestone Church is making a big impact

As the holidays approach, Milestone Church is stepping up to make a difference—one Thanksgiving meal and donation at a time. Through two outreach programs, the church is feeding families in need and demonstrating its mission: serving others as an expression of faith.

Thanksgiving meal drive

This year, Milestone Church organized a Thanksgiving food drive that provided 1,000 fully stocked boxes to families who might otherwise go without a holiday meal. Each is like a full meal kit, including all the essentials for a complete dinner, giving families a chance to celebrate the season.

Church members registered to shop for specific items through the church’s missions department, which packaged and delivered the boxes to families in need, including local Title I schools and community organizations.

“It feels good as a member to know that whenever you’re sitting down to enjoy your Thanksgiving meal, you’re able to be part of something bigger than yourself, like someone else is able to sit down and enjoy a meal too,” Communications Director Hannah Long said.

Massive food delivery to local food banks

Milestone Church recently delivered 5.5 tons of high-quality food to two local food banks, Christ Haven and Community Storehouse, helping families affected by recent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefit reductions. The effort was immense—semitrucks filled with nutritious, family-friendly food were delivered directly to those in need.

Unlike the Thanksgiving drive, this initiative was funded directly by the church’s budget, thanks to the generosity of members. The food was intentionally chosen to ensure families could access quality meals, not just basic staples.

“People in need deserve the best, not just whatever is left over,” Long said. “It’s about showing them that someone sees them and cares.”

Why outreach matters

For Milestone, these programs are more than charity; they embody the church’s mission. The work reflects a belief that faith is shown through action, not just words.

“Jesus’ plan is His church. As Christians, we’re called to serve and love people, and when we unite, we can make a bigger impact,” Long said. “The church sees itself as a vehicle for collective action, where each member’s contribution multiplies the impact on the community.”

Through programs like the Thanksgiving meal drive and food bank donations, Milestone Church demonstrates how a faith-based community can make a tangible difference—showing love, care and generosity while helping those in need.
