For years, several North Texas ventures in technology services, workspace development, youth athletics and community giving have grown alongside one another.

Now, they’ve been brought together under one unified identity: Areté, a name inspired by the Greek concept of striving for excellence.

Instead of operating as separate programs, each Areté division now works together to support the same goal: strengthening North Texas through innovation, opportunity and community connection.

Here’s how the unified brand translates into real impact for local families, professionals and young athletes.

Areté Athletics: a growing opportunity for more than a 1,000 local athletes

One of the clearest examples of the merger’s community impact is Areté Athletics.

What began more than a decade ago as a small volleyball effort has grown into a multi-sport organization with:
  • Volleyball and basketball teams/training
  • Performance training
  • 13 volleyball/basketball courts inside the Areté Center
In an area where youth sports can be costly and competitive, the program prioritizes accessibility, character-building and what Areté calls development beyond the court.

Areté Foundation: supporting families close to home

The Areté Foundation, which was formalized this year, is focused entirely on serving local needs in McKinney and surrounding communities. Through food drives, a sock drive for middle school Angel Tree students and hands-on service projects, the foundation helps ensure young athletes gain more than skill; they gain perspective.

“We wanted to focus on our own city and our own backyard,” said chairman Lance Black.

The effort is to teach athletes compassion and community service, alongside sport.

Areté Solutions: strengthening local business infrastructure

Areté Solutions, formerly Virtuwave and VAZATA, brings decades of experience in:
  • Data center management and development services
  • IT management services
This focus supports businesses looking for secure, scalable infrastructure technology as the data center and AI space continue to grow.

Areté Spaces: a community-focused hub for local professionals

Areté Spaces, previously known as WorkSpaces, offers flexible, multi-tenant offices designed to help small businesses grow. Shared amenities, private offices and a collaborative environment create a natural gathering point for entrepreneurs across McKinney.

Looking ahead

Black said this merger is about more than simplifying names; it’s about highlighting the full picture of who they are.

“We are business-minded, yes,” Black said. “We’re also very involved with our families in the community, providing a space where their young athletes can train and an opportunity in the foundation to give back to those that are not involved.”

This dual focus is intentional. Areté aims to be recognized not only as a trusted tech and workspace partner, but also as a community-driven organization helping shape opportunities where they matter most.

With all services now united under one name, Black believes the Areté identity will make it easier for customers, families and partners to understand the full scope of what the organization offers. As the athletics program and foundation continue to expand, Areté hopes to strengthen its role as both a business innovator and a source of support for North Texas families.
