5 things to look for in a 55+ community, how Twin Rivers Senior Living delivers

Choosing the right 55-plus community is about more than floor plans or amenities. It’s about lifestyle, connection and finding a place that truly feels like home. Twin Rivers Senior Living delivers on all fronts.

Many people don’t know what to look for when touring 55-plus communities for the first time. After talking with residents and seeing what matters most, general manager Alex Anda has identified five essentials, each of which Twin Rivers is proud to offer.

1. A full calendar of activities and events.

Engagement is one of the biggest predictors of long-term happiness in a 55-plus setting. At Twin Rivers, social opportunities are woven into daily life.

“Every single day, [our calendar] has so many things to do,” Anda said.

Residents have countless ways to connect, meet new people and stay active, from exercise classes and water aerobics to themed parties, book clubs, crafting groups and donation drives.

2. A community culture that fosters connection.

Feeling welcomed and supported can make all the difference. At Twin Rivers, a strong resident-to-resident and resident-to-staff connection has become part of the community identity.

“Even if you’re not looking for friends, you’re going to make a lot of friends,” Anda said.

Strong relationships don’t happen by accident; they grow from a culture that values kindness, friendship and involvement. Many residents have lived at Twin Rivers for more than a decade, and the sense of community is a major reason why.

3. Convenient, walkable location.

Being close to parks, shopping and everyday essentials is another key factor when evaluating a 55-plus community. Twin Rivers sits beside an expansive walking park called Twin Rivers Park.

“It’s one of the most beautiful parks in the city,” Anda said.

Residents have direct, gated access to the trail and often enjoy group walks or weekend picnics together. The community is also near major shopping corridors, restaurants, doctors and hospitals—everything needed for comfort and convenience.

4. Thoughtful amenities that support long-term comfort.

Exercise spaces, game rooms, comfortable gathering areas and creative clubs all play a role in daily enjoyment.

Twin Rivers offers a wide mix, from card games and dominoes to knitting groups, short-story workshops and ongoing charitable initiatives. One long-standing club, The Stitchers, has been crafting handmade blankets and beanies for children’s hospitals for more than 14 years.

The property has recently completed a major renovation, creating an elegant new Grand room designed for events, parties and resident gatherings.

5. Spacious and well-designed apartment homes.

Finally, it’s important to consider the feel and function of the apartment itself. The community’s owner, who is also an architect, designed Twin Rivers’ residences to be larger and more traditional than many found elsewhere.

Anda said residents consistently comment on how beautiful the layouts are. They note details like crown molding, natural light and thoughtful finishes.

“[People who tour] are always in such awe of how beautiful they are,” Anda said.
