Gazelle Healthcare Solutions: Crafting durable orthopedic equipment that keeps Texans moving

For more than 16 years, Gazelle Healthcare Solutions has been helping Texans regain strength and mobility. The Cypress-based company provides personalized support to stay active and independent, whether it’s an athlete recovering from an injury or a grandparent managing chronic knee pain.

Gazelle Healthcare Solutions, founded and owned by Brooke and Maurice Hawkins, specializes in orthopedic bracing and durable medical equipment that helps patients heal safely and move confidently. Their certified team works closely with physicians to ensure every device is measured, fitted and adjusted for individual needs.

“Our goal has always been to help people move and feel better,” Brooke said. “When someone leaves here with less pain and more confidence, that’s what it’s about for us.”

Local roots, statewide reach

A small family-run practice in Cypress has grown into a key resource for patients and physicians across Texas.

The Hawkins, certified orthotic fitters and orthopedic technicians, lead a team that doesn’t just hand out braces. They guide patients through every step, from understanding their doctors’ recommendations to using their device safely at home.

“We employ people trained in orthopedic care,” Brooke said. “It’s not just about giving someone a brace—it’s about making sure it fits, works and helps them return to their activities.”

Through this hands-on, personalized approach, Gazelle ensures patients don’t just receive equipment; they gain the confidence and guidance to move forward in their daily lives.

Why custom fitting matters

In the era of online shopping, it might be tempting to buy a brace off Amazon. However, Brooke said that approach can cause more harm than healing.

“It’s like buying clothes,” Brooke said. “We could all go to Target and get the same pants. But if you get yours tailored, it’ll fit and feel better. That’s the same with orthopedic bracing.”

A poorly fitted brace can cause discomfort, reduced compliance and slower healing. Gazelle’s trained, certified orthotic fitters ensure each brace provides proper alignment and comfort—factors that impact recovery outcomes.

“A good fit helps with compliance,” Brooke said. “If something’s too tight or too loose, people won’t wear it. But when it fits right, they heal faster and feel better.”

Managing osteoarthritis and beyond

Gazelle helps treat knee osteoarthritis, a condition affecting countless Americans.

“People say they’re ‘bone on bone,’” Brooke said. “That’s where our unloader knee braces come in.”

These braces use a three-point pressure system to relieve pain by shifting weight away from the affected knee area, improving mobility and comfort. While bracing doesn’t cure arthritis, it can significantly improve daily life.

Gazelle offers solutions for fractures, back pain and post-operative recovery, with a wide range of spinal, foot and ankle bracing options fitted for individual needs.

A new home in Cypress

Gazelle Healthcare Solutions recently relocated to Cypress, near Highway 290 and Barker Cypress, after 15 years in Jersey Village. The new location allows the company to better serve the northwest Houston community while supporting patients statewide through clinic partnerships and mobile technicians.

“Despite our home base in Cypress, we’re serving people all over Texas,” Brooke said. “Wherever someone needs orthopedic care, we’re here to help.
