At Christian Brothers Automotive in New Braunfels, vehicle maintenance is more than a checklist; it’s the key to keeping your car on the road for hundreds of thousands of miles.

For owner Kevin Carroll and his experienced team, that means focusing on preventive care, education and service done with integrity.

Here are three ways they say to keep your car running for longer.

1. Stay on top of regular maintenance.

The team said the most effective way to extend the lifespan of a vehicle is to keep up with manufacturer-recommended maintenance. This includes changing fluids, checking for leaks and addressing strange sounds or drivability issues early.

“The guests that are actually getting preventive maintenance and service maintenance done on time are the ones coming in with 200,000 or even 300,000 miles [on their vehicles],” manager Chris Graf said. “They’re lasting a lot longer, which, in the long run, saves money.”

2. Work with experienced technicians.

Christian Brothers Automotive’s crew includes ASE-certified and ASE Advance Level Master Certified technicians. This means they are experts who have passed multiple exams covering every system in a vehicle, from brakes to electrical components.

“We have a high-powered staff here,” Carroll said. “There are over 127 years of experience ... [between] the nine [technicians we have].”

This expertise ensures that every service is performed with care, accuracy and transparency. Each vehicle receives a 30-point courtesy inspection, complete with photos and videos, so customers can clearly see what’s happening under the hood.

3. Don’t ignore warning signs.

If something feels off, such as a noise, a vibration or a change in how the car drives, it’s best to bring it in quickly.

Their team recommends scheduling an inspection as soon as possible to prevent minor issues from becoming costly repairs.

Local conditions make preventive maintenance even more important, as Texas drivers know. Extreme summer heat can take a toll on air conditioning systems and engine cooling components, so timely service helps prevent breakdowns when it matters most.

Giving back, one repair at a time

Beyond the garage, Christian Brothers Automotive in New Braunfels is known for its commitment to giving back. The shop partners with select local nonprofits to repair and, at times, donate vehicles to those in need.

“We are blessed to work with our local non profit partners who occasionally send to us people whose vehicles need a lot of help, and ... we do a few major repairs for free. It really changes people’s lives,” Carroll said.

That spirit of service extends to the national level, too. 10% of the franchise's corporate profits go to The Christian Brothers Automotive Foundation, which supports non-profit organizations that are focused on evangelism, health services or human services. Local franchisees like Carroll help direct funds to causes close to home.

“We’re not here just to make money, we are here to serve our community,” Carroll said.

Carroll also emphasized that he wouldn’t be here without his team.

“[We have an] awesome team,” he said. “[They are] a group of good, hardworking, honest people, and ... without them I’d be nowhere.”

From preventive maintenance to community service, Christian Brothers Automotive in New Braunfels keeps both cars and people moving forward with honesty, expertise and care that lasts.
