New homes, incentives, amenities fuel rapid growth at The Colony in Bastrop

At The Colony in Bastrop, growth is accelerating with new builders, exciting amenities and opportunities for families to find a home that fits every stage of life.

Located near the Austin airport, Tesla Gigafactory and more, The Colony has quickly become one of the region’s most dynamic master-planned communities.

“Bastrop is experiencing incredible growth, and The Colony is designed to meet that demand,” Senior Vice President of Hunt Communities Rick Neff said. “Our location puts residents close to Austin’s largest employers while still offering the space and small-town character people are looking for.”

Eight active builders are already on the ground, and Drees Homes and Del Webb will join the lineup, with models opening in early 2026.

The community’s mix of gated and non-gated neighborhoods, along with varied lot sizes, gives buyers options at every stage of life, from first-time homeowners, growing families or empty nesters looking for low maintenance.

“Choice is a big part of what makes The Colony special,” Neff said. “Whether you want a larger lot for kids to play, a gated section with added privacy or a smaller home that’s easy to maintain, you can find it here.”

Amenities and events

Unlike communities that centralize everything into one hub, The Colony’s design features a trail of amenity centers, along with parks, tennis courts, a shaded dog park and even an on-site elementary school.

A new amenity center, breaking ground later this year, will feature a 5,000-square-foot pool set to be one of the largest in the community.

Fitness is never far away, either. Every resident has access to at least one fitness center, and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy disc golf, catch-and-release fishing and views of the tall pines that define Bastrop.

“Our goal is to build a connected community,” Neff said. “The amenity network makes it easy for neighbors to meet each other in everyday life.”

Perhaps the strongest sense of community at The Colony comes from its year-round lifestyle programming. Residents can expect everything from pickleball tournaments and fishing contests to concerts and holiday festivals. Many of these events are open to the public, creating a gathering place for the wider Bastrop area.

Looking ahead

As Bastrop continues to grow, The Colony stands out as a community that combines small-town charm with modern conveniences and proximity to many of Austin’s major employers. The future here looks as promising as the present, with more builders, new amenities and a lifestyle program that keeps residents engaged.

Now is the ideal time to buy, with quick move-in homes, builder incentives and lower interest rates.
