Heat Bootcamp is the first business to open in the renovated Hays County Justice Center

A new fitness studio is the first to open in the newly renovated Hays County Justice Center at 110 E. MLK Drive, San Marcos. Heat Bootcamp held its grand opening Saturday with free classes. Hays Co. Bar-B-Que to reopen in larger location Saturday

With a proclamation that the "Great BBQ Drought of 2018" is finally over, Hays Co. Bar-B-Que announced Wednesday it would be reopening its restaurant at 1612 S. I-35, San Marcos, on Saturday. The restaurant closed Feb. 12 so workers could demolish the current building, create a new parking lot and finish the new, larger building on the same lot. Fire causes downtown San Marcos’ Taqueria El Charro Tapatio to close indefinitely

A structural fire that occurred March 8 has caused Tex-Mex restaurant Taqueria El Charro Tapatio until further notice. The restaurant is located at 311 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos. According to the city of San Marcos, there were no injuries reported. Hopkins is blocked at Edward Gary and CM Allen while firefighters douse a fire at Taqueria El Charro Topatio. Update: Due to delayed permits, the restaurant aims to open March 21. The owners of Caliente's Burgers & More food truck will move into the old Ruthie’s Bull Pit at 905 N. Former Blue Owl brewer to open Roughhouse Brewing in San Marcos

San Marcos will be getting a new rustic Texas brewery next year in the form of Roughhouse Brewing. Founders and husband-and-wife Davy and Alex Pasternak have already started construction on the brewery, which will take up about five acres of a 50-acre ranch off RR 12, down the street from Middleton Brewing.
