The compensation increases will cost RRISD $14.2 million in 2019-2020, according to a district news release.
"We pledge to continue investing in our staff as they remain dedicated to serving our community and impacting the lives of thousands of students each day," Board President Chad Chadwell said in the release.
Teachers, librarians and nurses will receive a pay raise of $1,800 with adjustments to "alleviate compression" between years of service, according to the release.
With the compensation increase, newly hired teachers, librarians and nurses with no years of experience will earn a starting salary of $49,300 at RRISD. That pay will increase by $300 for every year of experience the candidate has, according to the district's updated compensation plans.
Counselors and other licensed professionals in the district are set to receive a $2,212 pay increase. According to the district's documents, newly hired counselors and other licensed professionals with no years of experience are set to earn a salary of $52,600 under the new compensation rates.
Other employees, such as custodial staff and administrative support staff, will see an increase equal to 3.5% of the pay range midpoint.
"We understand the importance of investing in our staff and know that by investing in them we are investing in our students and their futures," RRISD Superintendent Steve Flores said in the release.
