Tempe and Guadalupe children ages 6-18 are eligible for the free Youth Transit Pass, which covers access to the light rail, all Valley Metro buses and Streetcar. Passes, valid July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023, will be issued for the new year starting May 9.
According to a press release, registration for passes can be done at the Tempe Transit Store, located at 200 E. Fifth St., on weekdays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. They are also available at this location June 25 and Aug. 6 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Students who attend Tempe, Marcos de Niza and McClintock high schools and live in Tempe or Guadalupe can also get a pass at school. According to the release, Tempe residents passed a half-cent sales tax for transit operations and improvements in 1996, which funds the Tempe Youth Transit Pass program. Applicants will need to fill out a registration form and can find more information on the Tempe website.
