Two freeway closures this weekend will affect drivers in the Gilbert area.

The westbound Loop 202-Santan Freeway will be closed between Val Vista Drive and Gilbert Road this weekend for work on the Lindsay Road Interchange.

The closure begins at 10 p.m. Nov. 5 and runs until 5 a.m. Nov. 8.

Also closed will be on-ramps at Williams Field Road, Santan Village Parkway and Val Vista Drive.

Westbound drivers on the freeway should exit ahead of the closure and use Pecos, Germann or Queen Creek roads to Gilbert Road, where they can regain access to the freeway.

Additionally, eastbound US 60, often called the Superstition Freeway, will be closed from Gilbert to Greenfield roads for asphalt removal. The closure begins at 9 p.m. Nov. 5 and runs until 5 a.m. Nov. 8.

The Mesa Drive and Stapley Road on-ramps also will be closed.

Eastbound drivers should consider exiting before the closure and using either Southern Avenue or Baseline Road to get around the closure.

The Arizona Department of Transportation asks that drivers slow down around construction workers and equipment while the restrictions are in place.
