The town of Gilbert is in negotiations for Surety Co. to complete the Recker Road improvements project
The town anticipates work to resume in late spring and last four months. In the meantime, areas of incomplete work have been secured with traffic control in place.
The town issued the notice of termination to the previous contractor, Standard Construction Company, Oct. 15 for what the town described as several uncured contractor defaults, or a failure to perform any of its material obligations under an agreement.
The $3.94 million project is to improve Recker Road to minor arterial standards, including four lanes, a raised median, landscaping, bike lanes, sidewalks and streetlights.
Construction, which started in January 2020, is approximately 60% complete. All base paving is complete.
The town of Gilbert, Maricopa Association of Governments and developer contributions are paying for the project.
