Mesa project on Baseline Road approaching wrapup

The city of Mesa is wrapping up miscellaneous items throughout its street improvement project along Baseline Road from 24th Street in Mesa or Burk Street in Gilbert to the Consolidated Canal.

Town officials said they are hoping all items will be complete by the end of December or early January.

Miscellaneous lane restrictions will be in place until the project is completed.

The work is part of Mesa’s capital improvement project to improve Baseline Road running along the Gilbert border.

Improvements from the project include constructing new or upgrading curbs, gutters, sidewalks and ramps; providing three lanes in each direction, bike lanes, new asphalt pavement, raised center medians, landscaping and street lighting. Other improvements include the installation of a new storm drain and water main.

The project has a cost of up to $3.9 million, according to the city. Mesa is funding the project.
