Waterline work to affect traffic at Gilbert Road and Houston Avenue

Crews began work Jan. 7 in the Gilbert Road and Houston Avenue intersection to install a waterline in Gilbert Road across Houston Avenue.

The work will take place beginning at 6 a.m. each day and is expected to be completed each day by 2 p.m. to accommodate afternoon and evening traffic.

No left turns will be permitted at the intersection while work is going on.

Gilbert Road and Houston Avenue will remain open for travel; however, Houston Avenue traffic will not be permitted through the intersection and will only be permitted to make right turns to or from Gilbert Road.

The work is expected to take one week to complete but could be extended based on the subsurface conditions.

Access to businesses will be maintained during the work, which is part of a larger project on Gilbert Road between Baseline and Guadalupe roads. That work started in November and is expected to last into fall.
