HD South will celebrate its 40th anniversary with free admission May 14. The museum bills itself as a hub for art, culture and history in Gilbert with a museum that houses artifacts and photos from the town's history. It also hosts community groups, puts on events and classes, displays artwork and has a gift shop. It opened May 15, 1982, as the Gilbert Historical Center in the original Gilbert Elementary School building.
