The town of Gilbert is seeking applicants for one volunteer position each on the town’s redevelopment commission and the parks and recreation board.

Each fills a partial term. For the redevelopment commission, the appointment will begin Feb. 22, 2022, and end Oct. 31, 2025. For the parks and recreation board, the term will last from Feb. 22, 2022, until May 12, 2024.

The redevelopment commission advises Town Council on matters related to the redevelopment area in downtown Gilbert.

Members consider new proposals for development, monitor current projects and implement the redevelopment plan. The redevelopment commission has specific powers and guidelines permitted by the state of Arizona.

Professionals in architectural and landscape design, planning, finance and related fields are sought to serve on this commission.


Members normally serve four-year terms. The commission typically meets once per month on the third Wednesday of the month or as needed.

The parks and recreation board strives to ensure that citizens of every segment of the town have opportunities to enjoy diverse leisure experiences.

The board's recommendations may encompass programming of public improvements, policy input and review, capital projects, and programs and regulations relating to park and recreation areas.

Members normally serve three-year terms. The board typically meets monthly on the second Tuesday of each month or as needed.

To be qualified for either position, candidates must be qualified electors and live in the town.
