Gilbert, HD South to hold Memorial Day commemoration

The town of Gilbert and HD South will hold a Memorial Day commemoration May 31 after a year's absence because of COVID-19.

The morning of remembrance will include a flag and wreath ceremony, the battlefield cross, the setting of the POW/MIA table, a performance by a local band and remarks from Gilbert dignitaries, including Mayor Brigette Peterson.

People attending should bring a lawn chair or blanket.

The free event will begin at 9 a.m at the Town Civic Center, 50 E. Civic Center Drive, Gilbert.

The Gilbert Historical Museum will be open for free following the event from noon until 4 p.m.
