Gilbert Town Council has four seats up for election in the summer and fall. The primary election is Aug. 2, and the general election is Nov. 8.
Council members Scott September, Yung Koprowski and Laurin Hendrix plan to run for re-election. Vice Mayor Aimee Yentes said she plans only to serve one term and will not run again.
Others who had filed statements of interest as of Jan. 18 are: former Council Member Bill Spence; Michael Clark; previous candidate Busola Obayomi; Mario Chicas; Larry Melton; Chuck Bongiovanni; and Jim Torgeson, the resident and owner of a Mesa sign-making shop who sued the town over the $515 million streets, transportation and infrastructure bond.
