Gilbert will begin reopening some parks amenities this week, starting with the Freestone Recreation Center on May 15.

Residents may use the facilities at their own risk and pace and should following physical distancing and other guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control.

After the Freestone Rec Center, the McQueen Park Activity Center gymnasium will reopen May 18.

Field, ramada and room rentals resume May 22, and the Gilbert community pools will open May 23 for the season.

The facilities may have limited usage and hours as they reopen.

Splash pads will remain closed until further notice. Town officials said they are developing protocols to facilitate the reopening of splash pads while still supporting physical distancing measures.

Gilbert Parks and Recreation will be offering a limited number of summer programs, including swim lessons, that will still allow for physical distancing.

Program offerings will be released May 22 with classes starting June 8.

Registration for Gilbert Foundation Gold Members will be May 26, while residents can begin registering May 27. Non-residents may begin registering May 28.
