The coronavirus is affecting the entire world, including the town of Gilbert. Here are the Gilbert, Maricopa County and statewide updates that residents need to know.

Mayor Jenn Daniels said in her video message for April 30 that the state’s increased COVID-19 testing will have an affect on local numbers.

“We do expect to see spikes in these numbers, mostly because we’re just ramping up testing,” she said.

Daniels said the town is working on having testing sites in Gilbert.

The six ZIP codes that serve Gilbert have had 183 cases of COVID-19, a one-day increase of 13, according to data from the Arizona Department of Health Services on April 30. Arizona has 7,648 positive COVID-19 cases, Health Services reported April 30. The state also is reporting 320 deaths, up from 304 the previous day.


Maricopa County reported 3,951 positive COVID-19 cases and 145 deaths April 30.
