The coronavirus is affecting the entire world, including the town of Gilbert. Here are the Gilbert, Maricopa County and statewide updates that residents need to know.

Dolan Ellis, Arizona's official state balladeer, will perform at the Higley Center of Performing Arts' first show its new television studio. The center has created the studio to provide the community an opportunity to watch performances from their homes. Ellis will perform at 7 p.m. April 23. Viewers can tune In on the center's website.


Case count

The number of COVID-19 cases reported in the six ZIP codes that serve Gilbert held steady April 22 at 147.

Maricopa County now has 2,842 cases, an increase of 123 cases from the previous day. The county reported April 22 an additional 13 deaths related to the virus, bringing the county death toll to 97.

Statewide, there are now 5,459 cases reported, an increase of 208 from the previous day. There have been 229 coronavirus fatalities reported across Arizona as of April 22, an increase of 21 deaths from the previous day.
