Gilbert sets Sept. 21 as date to open Regional Park


The town of Gilbert will hold a ribbon-cutting Sept. 21 for Phase I of the planned 272-acre Gilbert Regional Park, located at 3005 E. Queen Creek Road in Gilbert.

This phase included the construction of “The Mountain,” a 17-foot, multilevel playground area; “The Falls,” a splash pad with 57 water features; and “The Creek,” a playground for tots.

The schedule calls for the park to open at 8 a.m. with a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. The morning events will run until 10 a.m., with giveaways from The Strand @ Gilbert water park and Gilbert Parks Foundation. Otter Pops will also be available from the Gilbert Police Department.

A glow party will be held from 6-9 p.m. The day ends with a laser light show finale. 602-503-6200.
