The Post at Cooley Station opened this month, with more stores soon to come online. Here are some of the initial offerings at the development at Recker and Williams Field roads in Gilbert.

Simi’s Café has become gathering place for extended family

Eight years ago, Albert Kan found himself burnt out on the restaurant business and, perhaps more importantly, a little too far from his parents.

That, he said, is when he sold his Peoria restaurant to a friend, moved across the Valley to Gilbert, bought a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant in a strip mall and renamed it Simi’s Café.

The city of Chandler recently launched a program allowing businesses to expand their premises into on-street parking. The program, dubbed On the Street, was created to help businesses that have been faced with capacity restrictions due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Someburros opens location at Chandler's The Steelyard development

Someburros opened a location in November at Chandler's The Steelyard development. Located at 5095 S. Gilbert Road, Ste. 1, Someburros offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with menu items ranging from breakfast burritos and tacos to traditional Mexican cuisine to salads and bowls.

Kyrene School District names new superintendent

The Kyrene School District governing board voted Nov. 24 to approve the contract of a new superintendent to lead the district. Assistant Superintendent Laura Toenjes will serve as the next superintendent of the district beginning Jan. 1.
