A water pipeline replacement will affect traffic near Gilbert and Elliot roads in the coming weeks.

Daytime crews started work last week to replace the water line in Water Tank Road, but the street will remain open for travel. Construction crews will signal traffic on the street.

Meanwhile, nighttime crews began installing a water line on Gilbert between Elliot and Water Tank. The work, which started Jan. 12, will take place Sunday through Thursday nights to minimize traffic impact.

That work is expected to last three to four weeks and then will shift to daytime work as the project shifts south from Elliot toward Water Tank.

The work includes installing new lateral/service lines to the existing water meters in the project area. Residents will be notified in advance of any planned disruption to their water service, officials said.

During this work, streets will remain open for travel with traffic shifted away from the work zone. Business and resident access will be maintained.

The $2.26 million project, paid for from town funds, is expected to be completed in April.
