Last day to submit arguments in Chandler special election is Aug. 5

The city of Chandler is holding a special election Nov. 3 giving Chandler voters the opportunity to approve a franchise agreement with Southwest Gas Corp., according to the city.

The agreement will allow the utility to construct, maintain and operate its natural gas system in the city-owned public rights of way. The special franchise election will be held in conjunction with the general election.

The public may submit an argument in favor of or in opposition of the franchise agreement. The deadline to submit arguments is 5 p.m. Aug. 5. The cost to file an argument is $150, and arguments are limited to 300 words.

Completed arguments may be delivered in person to Chandler City Hall, City Clerk’s Office, 175 S. Arizona Ave., first floor, Chandler; or sent by mail to Chandler City Hall, Mail Stop 606, P.O. Box 4008, Chandler, AZ 85244-4008.

Each argument filed should also be submitted in electronic format to the clerk’s office at dana.delong@chandleraz.gov.
