Here are four road projects to look out for across Chandler:

Cooper Road expansion

An effort is underway to expand Cooper Road to four lanes—two lanes in each direction. The project begins about 3,500 feet north of Chandler Heights Road to Riggs Road. Improvements include the construction of raised medians, bike lanes, left-turn lanes, sidewalks and traffic signals.

Status: Pipeline crews are currently working to install sewer pipeline in the area between Cloud Road and Chandler Heights Road. Victoria Street and Gemini Place are open for right turns only until paving takes place. During this time, Cooper Road traffic is shifted to the east side of the median between Gemini and Victoria, still one lane in each direction, until paving takes place. Grading crews continue work preparing the subgrade and concrete crews continue work pouring curb from Cloud Road to Chandler Heights Road. Cooper Road remains open for travel during this work, one lane in each direction.

Lindsay Road/Loop 202 interchange

An interchange at Lindsay Road and Loop 202 will be built to provide access to SR 202 and a frontage road system on the north side of SR 202 between Lindsay and Gilbert Road.

Status: Traffic restrictions on Lindsay will remain throughout the remainder of the project, which is expected to be about six months. The project is coordinating traffic control with the Germann Road improvements project. Construction is 85% complete. However, due to the storm in Texas earlier this year, the contractor was unable to get the form liner for the project, which will delay the project four months from expected completion.

Alma School Road expansion

The city is working to expand Alma School Road in a multiphase project set to span several years. As of press time, construction was on Alma School from the Pecos Road intersection to approximately Fairview Street.

Status: Concrete crews are working near the entrance to The Casitas at San Marcos on the east side of Alma School to remove and replace scuppers, spillways, sidewalks and ramps. Crews continue work on median islands on Alma School with brick paver placement. The next portion of phase one is expected to begin in mid-December and will take place on Alma School Road between Germann Road and Maplewood Street. Phase two improvements are scheduled for fiscal year 2023-24.
